About the course: 

World History Studies is a standards-based social studies course that examines the major political, economic, geographic, cultural, scientific, and technological developments that have shaped civilizations from approximately 1200 CE to the present. Students investigate the rise and fall of empires, global interactions, revolutions, industrialization, world conflicts, globalization, and contemporary issues while analyzing the impact of historical events on today's world. Throughout the course, students develop critical thinking skills by evaluating primary and secondary sources, analyzing historical evidence, making connections across time and place, and communicating informed conclusions. Emphasis is placed on historical inquiry, civic literacy, geographic reasoning, and understanding diverse perspectives.

English I is a standards-based course that develops students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills through the study of a variety of literary and informational texts. Students analyze themes, author's purpose, literary elements, rhetorical techniques, and the structure of texts while building vocabulary and strengthening comprehension. Through the writing process, students compose argumentative, informational, literary, and reflective pieces using evidence to support ideas and communicate effectively for a variety of audiences and purposes. The course emphasizes collaboration, research, inquiry, and the effective use of language conventions and digital resources.

Through the writing process, students produce argumentative, informational, literary, and analytical compositions supported by relevant evidence and clear reasoning. The course emphasizes research, collaboration, effective communication, and the application of grammar and language conventions across multiple contexts.

Throughout the course, students analyze primary and secondary sources, evaluate historical evidence, examine multiple perspectives, and make connections between past events and their impact on the present. Emphasis is placed on historical inquiry, civic responsibility, geographic literacy, and the principles of democracy established in the United States Constitution.
