Special Programs

STUDENT-CENTERED • COLLABORATIVE • COMPLIANT

Welcome to Terrell County ISD's Special Programs

At Terrell County ISD, we believe all children are entitled to educational opportunities consistent with their ability to learn. The Special Services Department provides a comprehensive educational program for students with disabilities from birth through age twenty-one. A free, appropriate public education is offered through the provision of special programs and related services designed to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability.

The mission of Terrell County ISD is to sustain a culture of high expectations while valuing unity, relationships and trust.

In the Special Education Department, our goal is to achieve this in EVERY CAMPUS, EVERY CLASSROOM, EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY, and EVERY WAY.

We provide information and resources that can help you understand your child’s disability, your rights, and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and facilitate collaboration that supports the development and delivery of services to children with disabilities in our state.

The Special Education Information Center (SPEDTex) provides resources and interactive features for increasing family awareness of disabilities and special education processes, with the goal of improving partnerships between schools and families.
